Why are my templates getting rejected?

Utility Template:

META is very strict with Utility template guidelines. The template must not contain any promotional content, such as:

  • Promoting a product
  • Promising a discount
  • Advertising an upcoming event

These are all considered forms of marketing and will lead to rejection. If your utility template adheres to these guidelines and still gets rejected, contact support to appeal the decision.

Not able to submit the template, getting meta server error

Try creating the template again after 10 minutes with a different name. If the issue persists, please contact our support team.

What are the image and video specifications for templates?

Please find the image and video specifications for templates below:

  • Images: Should be in JPG/PNG format, less than 5MB, and have a resolution of 940 x 500 pixels.
  • Videos: Should be in MP4 format, less than 15MB, and have a resolution of 940 x 500 pixels.

Note: Images taller than 1.91:1 aspect ratio are cropped vertically. To communicate the crux in such images, plan to present the most important information at the center of the image.

How do we use variables to show unique customer names in the campaign?

While creating the template, insert a variable in the body at the desired location. Later on when running the campaign, the excel file used to upload the contacts should have an additional column right after “phone”. This column should have a heading of “1” and then have the names subsequently listed below accordingly matching their phone numbers. For multiple variables, follow the same steps and heading should change accordingly to the variable number.

How to set up a quick reply template?

  • Go to Settings > WhatsApp Templates > Create Template
  • Choose the required template category and name.
  • On the next page, scroll down to the bottom.
  • Click on Button Type > Quick Reply

Also do note, quick reply buttons work according to the trigger phase that is set up in Flow Builder. If the client has a specific message flow in mind for this quick reply button, they have to set up a flow for it.

What should I add in the sample variables tab?

Sample Variables tab is to let META know how this specific template will look like when being sent to customers.

The image sample can be any image.

The variable sample can be similar to the intended use-case, for eg: If {{1}} is intended to show the customer name, type any random name within the variable sample tab.

Unable to upload a media header(image/video) in templates

  • When uploading a video as a part of a template, it should be less than 15MB, be in mp4 format, and have a resolution of 940 x 500 pixels.
  • When uploading an image as a part of a template, it should be less than 15MB.
  • If the video and image specifications are following the above guidelines, try uploading the media header from your end and confirm there is no issue.
  • If issue persists, Reach out to support.

How Can I view / copy / Delete a template?

Navigate to Settings > WhatsApp Templates > Select the particular template > Under the Action section, you can view, edit, duplicate, and delete the template.

Note: For rejected templates, you cannot duplicate the template.

What is a footer in template?

The footer is optional and allows you to add a short line of text to the bottom of your message template.

For example : To avoid spam reports, you can include in the footer: Please type 'stop' or 'unsubscribe' to discontinue receiving messages.

What are holiday templates?

Holiday templates are predefined templates that can be easily customized according to the holiday and category of the brand.

To do that, navigate to Settings > Whatsapp Templates > Holiday Templates > Select the category and holiday > Customize as per your requirements > Submit the template.

Character limit in Standard template body?

The character limit in the template body, including variables, is up to 1024 characters.

Who approves templates?

Meta will approves the template and Templates usually take up to a minute to get approved, and a maximum of 15 minutes. If the template remains in pending status for longer than usual, please contact support.

How do I search for a deleted template

Navigate to Settings > WhatsApp Templates > Click on "Deleted" to view all deleted templates.

How many cards can I add in Carousel Templates?

You can add a minimum of 1 card and a maximum of 10 cards in a carousel template.

What is cost of Carousel templates?

The cost is same as the Standard template

Can I choose image and video in different cards in Carousel template?

No, you cannot choose both an image and a video in different cards within a carousel template. The header, which can be either an image or a video, is chosen for the entire carousel, and it applies to all cards within that carousel template.

You can add either two quick reply buttons, two call-to-action buttons, or a combination of both in each card.

Note that: Choices made in the first card will apply to all subsequent cards in the template.

You can include up to 160 characters, including variables.

Note that : There should not be more than 1 line break in each card body.
